Art Restoration at the Museum

Art restoration is considered as one of the most important fields in the life of an art museum and this project introduces the main questions and ethical issues of art restoration.

“Art Restoration at the Museum” is continuing the project “The Story of One Painting” and consists of 8 audiovisual stories. In each video, the restorers of the Latvian National Museum of Art either introduces viewers with the process of restoration or informs about themes such as: the ethics of the art restoration; experimental techniques used in the process of restoration; the restoration of double-sided paintings; extensive restoration; glass framing of the artworks; the restoration of graphics and photography;the restoration of sculpture.
