ARSENĀLS EXHIBITION HALL

Lessons in the Museum: Take a Look and Get to Know Art!

Target audience:  1st to 4th grade students

The children who attend this activity will learn about the basic elements of art through conversations and creative work.  They’ll tour temporary exhibitions at Arsenāls to learn about various types and genres of art, including colours, textures, techniques and materials so as then to demonstrate their knowledge about these issues.  This will allow the kids to learn about the world of art and the vast diversity of visual forms of expression therein.  Themes from the tour are interpreted and adapted to the themes of the actual exhibition that is in place, and the diversity of subjects discussed during the tour depends on the thematic diversity of that exhibition.  The themes hay be narrower as the focus is on one or just a few basic elements of art.  The diversity of themes will depend on the themes of the temporary exhibitions at the time of the tour.

This activity is linked to the 1st to 4th grade curriculum in the visual arts.
