The Latvian National Museum of Art is the first museum in Baltic States, what was built for exhibiting art and was opened in 1905. Now it is the largest depository of art in the state and unique point of culture and national identity in Riga. During the guided tour, moving through the building, you will pass through all the significant “stops” which tells about the buildings history, architecture and context of the era. The story, which began with the idea about necessity of art museum in Baltic States and finished with significant reconstruction from 2013 till 2015, is more than century old. During the guided tour there will be an opportunity to learn about the designing process of the building, to get acquainted with the materials and design elements used in construction process, to explore the symbolism used in the interior of the building.
