Ornamental pattern printing workshop (Wood Stamp Workshop)

In the introduction to this activity, participants are introduced to both the history and the various methods of cloth printing technique.

Visitors learn about the connection of wood-stamping techniques with Latvian folk art, as well as the print beginnings of artist Ansis Cīrulis.

During the practical portion, participants obtain a technical foundation and create their own composition working with authentic wood stamps from India and Turkey, as well as newly created wood stamps from the ornamental themes of Ansis Cīrulis.

Every participant carries out experiments on various pieces of fabric prior to fashioning their own individual or collective work. To conclude, participants demonstrate their created works and assess the plethora of possibilities in fabric printing with wood stamps.

This workshop is suitable for smaller groups up to 8 people.
