“Come to the Museum” on an education program that promotes inclusive society, encourages empathy, understanding and collaboration. Throughout the program school-age children and youngsters not only gain cultural experience but also are given the opportunity to better understand their peers.
The program takes place in the Latvian National Museum of Art, Exhibition hall ARSENĀLS, Art Museum RIGA BOURSE and in the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. This is a combined program for pupil of general education schools and children with various disabilities. Each combined group consists of approximately 15-20 participants.
Participants of the program meet three times within one school year, each time visiting a different museum. During the workshops they get a possibility to view museums’ permanent exhibitions or special exhibitions, participate in group activities and discussions, as well as pursue their creative work.
The education program “Come to the Museum” was launched in 2015 in collaboration with the “Nāc līdzās!” foundation, and for the first time a socially inclusive program of such scale was developed at the Latvian National Museum of Art. The program intended to highlight the museum as a meeting place.
Thanks to donations collected by the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce in 2018 participation in the program is free of charge.
