Me and Art
|
The programme “Me and Art” offers a chance to explore art through one's personal experience. During the classes the art works displayed in the museum’s exhibitions become objects of research and are used as samples for drawing tasks. Through watching, reasoning and creating participants learn about the creation and the inner structure of art, as well as authors’ personalities and their epoch. The class is divided into two groups. The first group, tought by teacher Diāna Dimza – Dimme, is meant for children aged 4 to 9 whereas the second group, tought by Baiba Sprance, is meant for anyone older than 9 years. The division is based upon the character of peoples’ consciousness. Children have a stronger and yet unspoilt imagination and intuition than youngsters or adults. Later these fine characteristics are overshadowed by logic and various stereotypes. This is the main reason for dividing classes into two groups. Children are given the opportunity to develop their talents whereas the older group in addition is given an opportunity to get acquainted with art history and various artists. The lesson consists of a teacher’s story that is related to the topic of the day and practical drawing – a copy, a freely drawn copy or a creative work that is based on the specifics of the chosen exhibition. Bring oil pastels with you, paper and other necessities are supplied by the museum. Classes are meant anyone older than 4 years and who still feels like a child at heart. Classes “Me and Art” have been held every Thursday and Saturday since year 2000. Previous registration is not required. |
