Painter Kristīne Luīze Avotiņa’s solo exhibition

The young artist (1983) has already formed her characteristic language of painting in which a love for brightly sparkling colours and ornamental rhythms of line have a permanent place. However, she chooses her motifs from nature because the artist sees it as a present “infinity in our real world”. Her compositions often combine various elements to create a fantastic fairy-tale mood that comes about through the interaction of the currents of the human soul with parallel events in nature.

The solo exhibition “Bali – Garden of Eden” continues Avotiņa’s explorations with inspiration coming this time from powerful feelings experienced on a trip to Bali. “Bali. God’s country. They say this island is paradise on earth. Already on the first day I arrived there, my breath was taken away when I saw how everything was green and how brilliantly the trees and flowers were blossoming. I had never seen such power of the land before.” The paintings include the splendour of nature and the richness of vegetation observed by the artist setting free associations in the world of human emotions. Avotiņa thinks that, “by uniting the beauty of nature and the human ability to love, a paradise is created, the Garden of Eden blossoms”.
