Tours: Contemporary Art

Target audience:  9^th grade and high school students

This tour covers processes of art and participants therein, using the collection of the LNMM and artworks exhibited during temporary exhibitions.  The story covers types of art from the late 20^th and early 21^st century, looking at their directions, their media and their transformation.  Art in Latvia is reviewed in the context of global events, and processes in the world of art are linked to other areas of public interest such as culture, history, politics and the development of technology.  Themes from the tour are interpreted and adapted to the themes of the actual exhibition that is in place, and the diversity of subjects discussed during the tour depends on the thematic diversity of that exhibition.
