Education programme GRAPHICS WITH WHITE GLOVES gives you an opportunity to take a look into the Graphics Collection of the Art Museum RIGA BOURSE and to meet museum curators, restorers, artists and to learn more about the making of graphic art. During event museum visitors will have unique opportunity to meet Curator of the Foreign Graphic Art Collection Valentīna Opolā and special guest - Dmitrijs Zinovjevs (National Library of Latvia).

The Museum of Foreign Art contains 11 393 examples of graphic art, most of which come from Western Europe were produced between the early 16th century and the early 20th century. The largest and most important parts of the collection involve Dutch and Flemish graphics from the 17th century, German, Italian and French graphic art from the 17th to the 19th century, British graphics from the 18th and the 19th century, and Belgian graphic art from the early 20th century. 

 

The collection includes art which was produced by the widest possible variety of techniques – everything from xylography to traditional brass engravings, as well as lithographs. There are also several hundred drawings and water colors.

 

Visitors of the programme GRAPHICS WITH WHITE GLOVES will have a chance to see originals that due to the strict preservation politics can be rarely seen at the permanent exhibition.

 

Museum curators will give an insight about various old masters, their artistic experience, style and the development of various artistic techniques.
