Latvian National Museum of Art

Jāņa Rozentāla laukums 1, Riga
Latvian art values in two centuries

Latvian National Museum of Art is the most significant art museum in Latvia and the first building in the Baltics that is built for museum purposes. After an ambitious reconstruction, the building has welcomed a new permanent exposition “Latvian Art 19th – 20th century” that creates a visual and emotional story about the development of Latvian art, highlighting the most significant artworks and artists. The Great Exhibition Hall in the underground block, as well as the exhibition halls in the attic and the Cupola Hall of the museum, regularly host different conceptual exhibitions that represent current trends in Latvian art history and contemporary art, as well as personal exhibitions of notable Latvian artists. In addition, the underground block offers to view the painting collections – a unique architectonic solution that allows looking into the work processes of the museum.

Art Museum RIGA BOURSE

Doma laukums 6, Old Riga
The most extensive collection of international
art in the heart of Old Riga

The Art Museum RIGA BOURSE is a place of cultural exchange and aims to be a point of convergence between the East and the West, as well as offers a dialogue of classic and contemporary art expressions in its exhibitions. The museum collection holds more than 22 000 artworks from Europe, Russia, Asia, and the Near East. The most excellent pieces from these manifold art collections are displayed at the four permanent expositions of the museum.

Museum of Decorative Arts and Design

Skārņu iela 10, Old Riga
Design development in Latvia from the beginning until today

The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design is housed in the oldest remaining stone building in Riga, the Church of St. George, built in 1204. It is the only collection of professional decorative arts and design in Latvia. The permanent exposition of the museum introduces the art of leading decorative arts and design artists in Latvia, as well as demonstrates the dominating styles and directions in decorative arts and design from the late 19th century until today. Next to the permanent exposition, the museum regularly offers a broad scope of exhibitions that interpret the collections of the museum and other Latvian and foreign museums, in collaboration with artists, designers, and partner institutions.
