About Museum Storage Facility

In the Baltic context, the Museum Storage Facility is a unique building that adheres to the highest standards of security and museum value preservation. This facility preserves, documents, restores, and exposes more than two million units of the National Museum collection.

Close to 31 thousand square meters large facility is home to the collections of the National History Museum of Latvia, Museum of Literature and Music, and the Latvian Academy of Culture Riga Film Museum collections. This is the largest collection of Latvian historical heritage, art, literature, music, and film articles.

At the Museum Storage Facility, The Latvian National Museum of Art offers two permanent expositions – „Forest of Sculptures. Antique and Renaissance Plaster Cast Exhibition” and an outdoor sculpture exposition “Mythopoetic figures.”

The exposition „Forest of Sculptures. Antique and Renaissance Plaster Cast Exhibition” displays copies of world-renown sculptures from the Latvian National Museum of Art Foreign Art Department collection, whereas “Mythopoetic figures” introduces seven granite sculptures from the 2nd half of the 20th century, created by the sculptors Laimonis Blumbergs, Ojārs Feldbergs, Lilija Līce, Ojārs Siliņš, Juris Zihmanis, and Zenta Zvāra.
