Art Museum Volunteer programme

Volunteer Program of the Latvian National Museum of Art was established in 2009 and grants its participants the opportunity to get involved in museum work, gain knowledge of art and enroll in the training program of the project, as well as to be socially active and help the society.

This work gives me a lot of joy and a constant source for learning and exploring something new. It is also a chance to always meet new people and make new friends.

Kristīne Mucenice, volunteer at the museum

The program consolidates the volunteer work opportunities in all LNMA structural units – the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art, Museum of Decorative Arts and Design Art, Art Museum RIGA BOURSE, Exhibition Hall ARSENĀLS, Museum of Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova, and the Museum Storage Facility.

Volunteer workers do small-scale work according to necessity, assist in the implementation of different events and workshops, help with the work of museum collections and exhibition organizing, are involved in the translation of different materials, taking pictures at various museum events, and other similar tasks.

Work at the museum is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the museum and its processes from the inside, and to feel connected to the large community of museum people, as well as to see our artists, critics, and patrons of art in "real life".

Jausma Kalēja, LNMA Volunteer Program participant since 2011.
