The 7th Riga International Textile and Fibre Art Triennial Tradition and Innovation (theme: QUO VADIS?) competition has ended

The six-member Selection Jury came together on October 28th – 29th, 2022 at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Riga.

The International Jury panel consisted of 6 experts. Three professional experts of the field were invited from abroad:

  • Beatrijs Sterk
    Publisher, Textile-forum-blog.org
    The ETN founder, ex-President and Secretary General, Germany;
  • Włodzimierz Cygan
    Textile artist, Professor, Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts, Poland;
  • Tim Parry-Williams
    Professor of Art: Textiles; Faculty of Contemporary Fine Art,
    Music and Design University of Bergen, Norway.

Three of the Jury panel were experts from the Latvian National Art Museum – Inese Baranovska (Head of the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design), Vita Birzaka (Deputy Head of the Art Museum “Riga Bourse), Velta Raudzepa (Head of Collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design).

This year the Selection Jury received and judged 273 entries from 43 countries. The final selection was 79 artworks, representing 30 countries, which will be included in the Triennial. The jury gave preference to conceptual artworks which most closely corresponded to the theme of the Triennial.
