Art Activity:
How to Look and See?

Do we know how to explain our position when coming into direct visual contact with a work of art and determining our attitude towards it? The conversation, looking and thinking workshop How to Look and See? is devoted to visual literacy – the ability to see, analyse and create works of art.

The activity is organised with the aim of helping visitors build confidence in their personal opinion and the vocabulary used in describing visual experiences, including works of art.

Part of the activity is practical and introduces the essentials of art vocabulary, the knowledge of which will make it possible not only to better perceive the various aspects of art, but also to appreciate the significance of colour, field, line, form and composition. In this visual literacy workshop we will acquire a broader set of skills for the perception and interpretation of works of art. We will put this knowledge to practice by creatively analysing and discussing specific works of art.

The activity discusses such topics as personality, co-responsibility, traditions, the language of art, but the specific themes can be adapted to the interests of the group.
